In the spirit of the Yuletide season, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, and her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, have embarked on an empowerment program that has transformed the lives of numerous constituents.
This initiative, conducted in four phases, featured a raffle draw that saw market women and farmers from the five local government areas within the senatorial district walk away with life-changing prizes.
The winners, who were selected from Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogori-Magongo, and Okehi local governments, received items such as tricycles, sewing machines, deep freezers, grinding machines, and more. These prizes are expected to significantly enhance the recipients’ businesses and financial stability.
In addition to the raffle draw, a spinning game was organized for elderly women, who won items like wrappers, bowls, and groceries. A total of 250 constituents, mainly women, benefited from the initiative, which was fully sponsored by High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that the empowerment program primarily targets women, especially mothers, to improve their financial income, support their businesses, and boost their financial independence and entrepreneurial efforts. This initiative comes barely two months after the lawmaker empowered 1,300 members of her constituents and launched legacy projects to mark her one year in office.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including former House of Representatives member Abdulrahman Badamasiu, Kogi State PDP Deputy Chairman Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, party stakeholders, community leaders, market women, and farmers.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to empowering her constituents is evident in her previous initiatives, such as the empowerment of students from Kogi Central with multipurpose business equipment and the distribution of 2,400 bags of fertilizers to farmers .
Her dedication to the welfare of her constituents has earned her recognition as a champion of the people.
