Press conference by the Commissioner of police Sokoto State command, CP Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje Psc at State headquarter on the 4th of November, 2020 .
I am very delighted to welcome each and every one you to this press briefing, which has always serve as a means to intimate members of the general public of of the sustained efforts of the Command towards actualization of a crime free state. If you could recall in the series of my previous briefings, I did not mince words on the resolve of the Command under my watch to fight to the finish all crimes and social vices bedeveling the State, especially the war I have declared on the soaring spate of kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and other offences.
In view of the above, the Sokoto State Police Command shall remain relentless towards achieving the goal of securing the State, and today 4 December, 2020 the efforts of the Command have yielded more fruits by smoking out criminal elements as follows:
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND KIDNAPPING :
On 29/11/2020 at about 1200hrs one Abdullahi Mohammed ‘m’ of Dange shuni LGA Sokoto, reported to State CID Sokoto against one Hadari Bello ‘m’ Kalgo LGA Kebbi State. That on the same date at about 1130hrs the said suspect boarded his car at Kwannawa Motor Park about to travel to Kano State. Eventually he was identified by the complainant to be a member of a kidnap syndicate who kidnapped him on 07/09/2020 along Kankara Sheme road Katsina State. Investigation is in progress.
BELONGING TO THE GANG OF THIEVES :
On 19/11/2020 at about 1600hr a team of policemen attached to Kebbe Division arrested Muhammad Rabiu (2)Muhammad Kiruwa (3)Shehu Alh Dandebo and (4)Dankawu Janare all of Sabon Birni village in Kebbe LGA following intelligence report received that on 17/11/2020 some armed men invaded Sabon Birni village, broke shops, carted away and destroyed valuable items where the above mentioned persons are suspected to be their associates. Investigation is in progress.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING : On 04/12/2020 at 0005hrs a team of operatives attached to SCID Sokoto received distress call that around Yabo-Sanyinna forest some armed bandits were preparing to execute operation. Operatives swiftly proceeded to the area, on reaching the Bush, the bandits wearing military Comouflage uniform opened fire and a gun duel ensued :two of the bandits were neutralize while others escaped into the Bush with bullet wounds. However, one (1) AK 47 and three (3) AK 49 rifles with Breach Number : (1) 1961NA 3445 (2) 1983 N14572 (3) 56-14860119 and (4) 2L444C and rounds of live ammunition were recovered. Investigation is in progress.
CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION BY ANONYMOUS COMMUNICATION :
On 23/12/2020 at about 2300hrs one Abdullahi Sarki fawa ‘m’ of Gidan yero village Wamakko LGA Sokoto, reported to Wamakko Police Station that on the same date at about 2245hrs he received a call from unknown person with GSM number 09078180745 threatening to kidnapped him. During Police investigation, one Faruku ‘m’ of the same address was arrested and he confessed to have intimidated the complainant with the above GSM number, the phone and sim were recovered from him. Investigation is in progress.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING :
On 02/12/2020 a team of vigilante men from Dange shuni LGA Sokoto State arrested and handed over to Dange shuni Police Station two suspects namely : Musa Alh. Buba ‘m’ of Katsina State (2) Maniru Abdullahi (now deceased) ‘m’ of Rakwandi village in Dange shuni in an attempt to kidnap but were eventually caught by the locals who informed the Police. One locally fabricated wooden fake gun was recovered from them. Later one of the suspects, Maniru Abdullahi died in a hospital as a result of the injuries sustained from the mob. Investigation is in process.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS AND ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY :-
On Saturday 27/11/2020 at about 2200hrs the following suspects : One Hajiya Rukayya Bello ‘f’ of Minanata area, Sokoto (2) Yahaya Ibrahim ‘m’ Tungar Sani village, Gwadabawa LGA (3) Michael Nwosu ‘m’ of Bello way Sokoto (4) Matthew Irimiya ‘m’ of Rijiya Shehu area Sokoto (5) Innocent Onyeka ‘m’ of Bello way Sokoto (6) Tochuku Ojika ‘m’ of Bello way and Kabiru Bala ‘m’ of Arkilla area Sokoto, criminally conspired among themselves, Armed with two pistols and two cutlass, boarded a vehicle at Bafarawa fly over to Birnin Kebbi town, with intention to attack a house at Birnin Kebbi and demand for the sum of N25,000,000:00 cash from the owner of the house. On a tip off Kebbi Police intercepted the hoodlums at Birnin Kebbi and arrested six of the suspects and recovered two pistols and two cutlasses. During joint investigation by Sokoto and Kebbi operatives, the suspects confessed that it was one Kabiru Bala ‘m’ of Arkilla who was at large, that organised the robbery and supplied the two pistols in remote partnership with one Obinna who is currently serving jail term in Sokoto prison. On 03/12/2020 at about 1330hrs the said Kabiru Bala who has been on the run was arrested by CID operatives Sokoto and he confessed to the crime. Case under investigation.
