Christian Leaders in the country have been urged by one of the famous Clerics in Nigeria, Prophet Ekong Ituen, to conduct a total separation of politics and political related issues from the Gospel and to maintain a strategic distance from religious contempt, sentiment and to cease themselves from making inflammatory remarks that can promote conflict and disunity in the Country. He cautioned them not to turn their pulpit to an Altar of propaganda.
According to him, Politics should not grow Hand-in-Hand with ministerial activities and kingdom principles so as to avoid misguidedness amongst congregants. He advised them
to pray for People in power and not to give derogatory remarks and hate speeches. The idea of indoctrinating our followers to hate political leaders should be highly discouraged. As spiritual fathers, we are meant to bless both in speech and actions and not to curse irrespective of personality or religion as those curses may have negative influences on both the leaders and citizens at large.
Ituen admonished them to emulate Pastors Adeboye and Kumuyi because having followed them for a period of time, he has come to see maturity, sincerity of purpose, humility and clarity in all their dealings.
