It was a great shock to many when rumours spread like wildfire in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, that a nursery, primary and secondary school in the state is being patronised by adults who are alleged to be perpetrating sexual violence on the pupils with the full knowledge of the Principal.
The school, Rock n Gardens, Montessori International Schools, situated on No 4 Ule clo.
The bubble burst when the parents of one of the victims noted changes in their 15 year old daughter, Mary, who was getting emaciated, raising suspicion of ill health which prompted medical examination at a reputable hospital, where it was discovered that the girl has contracted a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Investigation into the sordid affairs in the school revealed that the 36 years old principal, Nathaniel Ali, abets and aided friends and “clients”, who in some cases used his office for exploring the canal knowledge of the innocent children, or in his residence at Ganaja village, a suburb of Lokoja metropolis.
According to a source very close to the family, the father of the victim, Mr Chia, an oil worker in one of the South South states, suspected his daughter of a foul play, despite early warnings and threat to all his daughters against indulging in sex at their tender age or face expulsion from the family.
On interrogation by the father, Mary, revealed that she was raped by one Abdukarim Sule right inside the Principal’s office.According to the source, the girl further revealed that the affairs continue in the Principal’s residence at Ganaja village after she was defiled in the office.
The parents swiftly contacted the Police and after investigation, the Principal and his 34 years old friend Abdulkarim Sule were arrested. It was learnt that the two randy men have confessed to the offence they committed.
According to the family source, the 16 years old girl revealed to her parents that the Principal sent one of her classmates last year during the WAEC examination to invite her to his office. Immediately she finished one of her WAEC papers, she headed to the Principal’s office.On entering the office, she saw the Principal and his friend, Abdulkarim who started asking her questions that could not be answered .”What do you understand by sex?”. As she could not answer, the Principal left the office and locked them. That was how she was introduced to sex by the Principal’s visitor.
In the course of the investigation the girl was said to have led detectives to the house where she was usually taken to and it came out to be the Principal’s residence, which he confirmed by himself.
It was also alleged that several innocent students have passed through the Principal’s test and ended up frequenting his house at Ganaja village where men were waiting and ready.However, the case has been reported to relevant agencies in the state and legal chambers, while police investigation continues.
Meanwhile it was also discovered that Abdulkarim Sule was a teacher in the school till 2018 when he left, but was said to be frequenting the school without any cogent reason.When contacted, the proprietor of the school, Mr Ikhani declined comment on the matter, saying police investigation is on going.
