But today, I look back with not just gladness but hope and enthusiasm because I know that tomorrow will be better.
My name is MARILYN OMA ANONA, a millennial Nigerian woman with so much abilities, talents, skills and cerebral power. While I am a lot of things because of my obvious versatility due to multiple gifts, my PURPOSE is simply to make humanity and our society better by developing the Human Resources in it.
I am constantly on the journey of leveling up in a bid to BECOME the best version of me.
My process has not been an easy one. I have faced lots of enormous challenges since I became an adult. I have been in situations that made me wish to take my own life. I have encountered circumstances that made totally loathe adulthood. I have passed through moments that made me feel greatly cheated by GOD, the universe and divinity.
But after the bouts of emotions and tears which are proof that I am human and a very young person, I lay back to do some assessment and analysis and I realize that I am doing so great and not giving myself enough credit because I have placed the bars so high for myself. I see my self in the realms of Einstein etc so anything less feels mundane.
But today, 20/08/2021… it is all about gratitude from me to GOD, the universe and everyone who has contributed positively to my process so far!
Thank you all for taking me seriously and loving me.
I am super charged for this new year and the goals I have set give me chills but I am sure they will be attained.

” Last year, I was nominated for my 17th award on one of the most credible award platforms in Africa, the ELOY AWARDS.
I was nominated in the category of HUMAN/BUSINESS PERFORMANCE COACH.
The other nominees in that category were not only older but they had more followers and clique on IG and everywhere.
If you know me, you will know I don’t do cliques…
Don’t mingle and just fully focused on my work!
But that award showed me for a fact that NUMBERS ain’t everything.
THE QUALITY OF PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW YOU and THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO YOU HAVE ACTUALLY INFLUENCED and MADE IMPACT IN THEIR LIVES MATTER MORE.
So I shared with my workers and some of my community members and Ezurike Ifeyinwa Balim’s specifically said, we must get it.
So the voting began and in all sincerity… I didn’t put all my muscle and might into it!
I was going through IG one day and discovered that one of the nominees in my category sponsored a post asking for votes and all.
So the day of the award came and I was in Lagos for business to represent my company abitnetwork at a meeting with Don Jazzy and some other company executives in various sectors.
I didn’t plan to attend the event, I said to myself…
If I win, they will have to send mine to Abuja!
But Arik Air in their usual way, misbehaved and shifted the flight without informing passengers.
I got to the airport and was told the flight was now past 8pm.
I don’t do local flights at night.
It’s in my head.
So I decided to stay back.
I remember, calling Babatunde Akin-Moses to help me book another flight which was later completely cancelled without notice.

I don’t even want to go into Nigerian airlines and their issues.
So I stayed back, and because I didn’t plan to attend, I had no dress to wear so I searched through IG and that’s how I met UBH STYLES who got me a 2 piece ready to wear to Four Points by Sheraton Lagos which was the venue of the event.
Event kicked off and I saw how they were all hailing themselves in the manner that showed familiarity with one another and all.
You know this kind of clique moves and all.
Once a nominee is announced for example, they all stand up with so much noise clapping and cheering.
But when it got to my category, and the nominees were announced and our bios read amidst the usual cheers and all, you needed to be there.🌝
My table was the only quiet one.
I don’t like noise and unnecessary attention.
Then the winner was about to be announced with this kind of suspense…
Lo I heard, and the winner is…
Marilyn Oma Anona !
They revealed the voting aggregate and I was shocked to realize that the gap I gave the other nominees was a lot!
I walked to the stage, gave a brief speech and gracefully took my award.
The ELOY AWARDS 2020 proved to me that IMPACT is the main thing.
It tested my POPULARITY and again proved and validated my stance that POPULARITY is and will always be better than FAME and NOTORIETY.
In all the 18 awards I have received from very reputable platforms…
They have been purely because of POSITIVE IMPACT and MERIT! “.
