As part of the solidarity and introductory tours of the PDP New Generation Group, the National Executives led by the Director General, Audu Mahmood visited Sen. Dino Melaye to brief him about the group and to appoint him as Grand Patron of the organization. The DG also lamented on need to have a united PDP as 2023 knocks on the door.
According to the DG, the presence of Senator Dino Melaye in the 7th and 8th Senate was highly impactful to Nigerians in all ramification. But his absence in the 9th Senate has a created a very huge lacuna and in that regard the group is pleading with him to return back to the 10th senate to defend and protect the interest of Nigerians.
The Kogi State chapter of the PDP New Generation Group then donated the sum of Five hundred thousand Naira as a token to Senator Dino Melaye to support his Journey to the 10th Senate. The National body then purchased his Senate Nomination and Express of Interest Form and promised to ensure that they will give all necessary support to see that he is sworn in as a member of the 10th senate in June, 2023.
The DG now went further to narrate that “we at the PDP New Generation will continue to support all Party faithfuls, and promote the activities of the Youth and Women amongst us. As young people ourselves, we will continue to seek the development of our great party and advocate for youth inclusiveness and participation in Politics. We are the leaders of today and the platform for young people – is the PDP.” Audu said.
Senator Dino, in turn accepted the appointment of Grand Patron of PDP New Generation and expressed his sheer surprise at this gesture. “This is emotional and overwhelming for me. I thank you all and I thank God.” He said.
The PDP New Generation will continue her courtesy visits across the Country to key in with stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, especially on the issues of Youths and Women. With a structure, strength, influence and network of youths and women cutting across all corner of the country, the organization advances the role of young people and women in decision-making process by promoting active participation in politics, governance and amplifying marginalized voices to influence their leaders, advocate for growth, overcome barriers to meaningful political participation and promote more vibrant, resilient and inclusive democracy.
The PDP New Generation is a youth and women political organization established to promote, maintain and preserve the integrity, unity, and ideology of the People’s Democratic Party with a commitment to the growth of Democracy in Nigeria.
