Reports emanating from Adavi local government area of Kogi State has indicated security operatives have identified the parents of the little baby found alive in a gutter in the area.
The development was confirmed with a joint effort from Men of Nigerian police and vigilante security outfit in the area, the Chief security officer of Adavi local government, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami confirmed this reports during press briefings.
The couple who were invited by the security council expressed readiness to take their child back, stating in clear terms what propelled such hasty decision from their end.
Erstwhile, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami agreed to adopt the child, to be taken care of by one of the Nurses in the social welfare department in the local government called Mrs Mercy who volunteered to take care of the baby. But the latest twist has pervert the plans in place as the parents agreed to take the child back.
Speaking to Newsmen is the father of the child, Mr Abdulrahaman from Okene local government who narrates what lured them into abandoning their child to the fate of passerbys.
Mr Abdulrahaman said, “I deeply regret my action as a father, but it’s because I’m extremely poor and depressed, I find it difficult to take care of myself, the mother and the child. We hardly afford a meal daily and there’s no one to talk to, it’s sad we had to make the choice. he said.
On behalf of my family, I sincerely ask for absolute forgiveness of the sin we committed against God and humanity, says the Father.
