In a proactive response to security incidents and commitment to securing lives and properties, the Caretaker Chairman of Olamaboro local government area, Comrade Williams Ameh, has spearheaded a collaborative effort with security agencies to enhance security measures within the locality. This initiative aligns with the overarching commitment of the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens and residents.
The urgency of the situation was underscored by reports detailing the ambush of commercial vehicles belonging to reputable transport companies, God is Good and ABC Transport, enroute from Lagos to Abuja. In light of these incidents, Comrade Williams convened a pivotal security meeting at the Olamaboro local government secretariat in Okpo.
The meeting, attended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and heads of various security agencies operating within the jurisdiction, served as a platform for strategic deliberations and intelligence sharing. Following this, a comprehensive security tour was undertaken by Chairman Williams and the assembled security personnel to key communities such as Inele, Okugo, Okakwu, and Adum.
At these vulnerable points, new checkpoints were established, manned by personnel from the Joint Task Force, to bolster surveillance and deter criminal activities. Additionally, concerted efforts were made to scour nearby bushes in search of the perpetrators, underscoring the resolve of the caretaker chairman and his team to combat insecurity head-on.
Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to upholding the directives of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Chairman Williams assured the populace of Olamaboro of relentless efforts to restore peace and security within the locality and the state at large.
Pertinent reports indicated that the assailants seized two commercial vehicles along the Inele Eteke Ogugu new road, absconding with both vehicles and their passengers. In response, the Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, intensified efforts to locate and rescue the victims.
Furthermore, additional tactical squads, including the Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, and Counter-Terrorism Unit, were deployed to augment the rescue mission, underscoring the multi-pronged approach adopted by law enforcement agencies.
While the exact number of passengers abducted remains unclear, Chairman Williams reiterated his unwavering commitment to securing the safe release of all victims and reuniting them with their families unharmed.
Recognized as one of the most proactive Caretaker Chairmen across the 21 local governments in the state, Williams urged community members to actively collaborate with security agencies by providing vital information. He also pledged his personal involvement in accompanying law enforcement personnel on patrols to ensure the safety and tranquility of Olamaboro local government.
