Distinguished Sen Isah Jibrin (Echocho), today empowered numbers of constituents at Aguma Palace in Bassa local government of Kogi East. The empowerment initiative is part of the senator longstanding commitment to improve the economic well-being of Kogi East particularly the youths and women.
In this latest round of empowerment, a significant number of beneficiaries in Bassa Local Government received cash grants designed to help them start or expand their businesses, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the local economy.
The empowerment program focuses on creating opportunities for financial independence among marginalized groups, such as youths and women, who often face barriers to accessing capital from financial institutions to start their dream businesses. Providing these cash grants, Echocho aims to reduce poverty and unemployment while encouraging entrepreneurship within the community.
According to Alhaji Danlami Garba, the SLA who represented the Senator, said the scheme is expected to have ripple effects on the local economy, stressing that beneficiaries can use the funds to invest in small-scale businesses like farming, retail, crafts, and other trades, thereby generating more income for their households. And it will not only improve their personal financial status but also contribute to the growth and sustainability of local businesses in Bassa Local Government and Kogi East entirely.
Echochoās empowerment programmes, including this one in Bassa, are part of his larger vision for KogiĀ Easterners, where he seeks to ensure that resources are allocated equitably and that all groups, particularly vulnerable ones, are given opportunities to thrive. His efforts have been praised for promoting inclusiveness and fostering long-term economic development in the constituency, he continues.
In addition to financial empowerment, SenĀ Echocho is known for his emphasis on capacity-building programmes, often providing beneficiaries with the necessary tools and training to ensure the sustainability of their businesses. Through these initiatives, he aims to build a constituency where economic empowerment leads to improved living conditions, reduced reliance on government aid, and fostering of a self-reliant populace, he said.
Overall, the empowerment in Bassa Local Government is seen as a major step forward in Senator Echochoās broader mission to uplift the entire Kogi East Senatorial district, he concluded.
