Kogi-Born Advocate, Blessing Ahuoyiza Blizzcut, Empowers Hundreds of Schoolgirls Through Girl Child Support Initiatives’ 2025 Outreach

Blessing Ahuoyiza Blizzcut, the passionate Founder of Girl Child Support Initiatives (GCSI), has once again proven her unwavering commitment to girl child advocacy. The 2025 edition of the organization’s outreach and support program concluded this week with visits to several secondary schools across the state, including Unity Girls College, Model Secondary School and OCSS Uboro, among others.

With beaming excitement and heartfelt gratitude, Blessing shared the success of the initiative on her social media platform, stating:
“To God be the Glory!!! Today, GIRL CHILD Support Initiative extended her support/outreach to different secondary schools in Kogi State!!! We visited Unity Girls College, Model Secondary School, OCSS Uboro amongst others! We gifted the students Reusable pads (that could last them for a year and beyond), Sanitary pads, notebooks and other hygiene materials. Followed by proper orientation on important topics!”

The outreach program which spanned several days, focused on addressing critical issues faced by young girls in school particularly menstrual hygiene, access to sanitary products and general health awareness. Through the distribution of reusable sanitary pads, notebooks, and hygiene kits, GCSI aimed to eliminate one of the key barriers to education that girls in under-resourced areas often face: lack of access to basic menstrual care.

Each school visited was not only a beneficiary of these essential items but also served as a hub for interactive educational sessions. These sessions covered a range of relevant topics including menstrual hygiene management, self-esteem, gender-based violence, and the importance of education for the girl child. The students were actively engaged and inspired by Blessing and her team, many of whom shared their own personal stories to encourage the girls to stay in school and dream beyond the societal limitations often placed on them.

Blessing Ahuoyiza Blizzcut, a proud daughter of Kogi State, has over the years become a leading voice in the fight for equal opportunities for girls in Nigeria. Her organization, Girl Child Support Initiatives was founded with a clear mission: to ensure that every girl, regardless of background or circumstance, has the resources, education, and support needed to live with dignity and realize her full potential.

Beyond material support, Blessing continues to advocate for policy level changes and community based programs that support the girl child’s right to education, health and protection. She calls on government agencies, civil society, and private sector partners to join in supporting the cause.

“This is not just about pads or notebooks,” Blessing said in a statement. “This is about dignity. It’s about telling every girl that she matters, that she deserves to go to school with her head held high, and that she is not alone.”
