Breaking: Woman Lynched in Niger State Over Alleged Blasphemy

Naija Reality News Ad

Tension gripped Kasuwan Garba in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State following the killing of a woman identified as Ammaye, who was lynched by a mob of irate youths over alleged blasphemous remarks against the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

The incident reportedly began in Igwama community, where the deceased, said to be a food vendor, was alleged to have made offensive comments during an exchange with a young man. Her remarks sparked outrage among residents and quickly escalated into unrest.

In a bid to resolve the matter, Ammaye was taken before the District Head of Kasuwan Garba, who questioned her over the allegations. The traditional ruler subsequently handed her over to security operatives for appropriate investigation and action. However, despite being in protective custody, the woman’s safety could not be guaranteed, as an angry mob overpowered the security personnel and launched a violent attack on her. She was stoned to death in the process.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Mariga Local Government Area, Hon. Abbas Adamu Kasuwan Garba, expressed sadness over the development but assured that normalcy had returned to the community.

The tragic killing has once again highlighted concerns about religious tensions, mob justice, and the capacity of local security structures to contain violence in parts of northern Nigeria.
