Former Minister of Justice and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abubakar Malami, on Monday narrowly escaped death after his convoy came under attack in Kebbi metropolis.

Malami, who was returning from a condolence visit within the city alongside his entourage, was reportedly ambushed by hoodlums who pelted the convoy with stones. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the attack created panic as vehicles in the motorcade were left with shattered windows and dents.

According to reports, the assailants expressed their disapproval of the former Minister’s stewardship, accusing him of neglecting their welfare during his time in public office. Despite the intensity of the attack, Malami and members of his team escaped unhurt.

Security operatives quickly intervened to disperse the mob and restore order in the area. As of press time, neither Malami nor his political associates had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
