The Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has commissioned the newly constructed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Multipurpose Hall at the Abati Military Barracks, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Gbajabiamila described the 1,200-capacity hall as more than just a physical structure, noting that it was carefully designed to serve both military and community needs. He explained that the facility will host a wide range of activities — including official military functions, town hall meetings, educational seminars, weddings, conferences, training programmes, and social engagements.
According to him, the hall’s versatility will enable it to serve as a sustainable revenue-generating asset for the barracks community, ensuring that it contributes to the welfare and development of officers and their families.
“This project is not just about putting up a structure; it is about creating value. The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Multipurpose Hall will generate revenue through its multiple uses while improving the quality of life for officers, their families, and the wider community,” Gbajabiamila remarked.
He further explained that naming the hall after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a deliberate choice, symbolising the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to sustainable development, empowerment, and inclusiveness.
Beyond its symbolic value, Gbajabiamila highlighted the hall’s economic impact, stressing that it will open opportunities for local service providers such as event managers, caterers, decorators, and vendors, thereby stimulating Surulere’s economy and strengthening ties between military and civilian communities.
The project, he added, stands as a forward-looking investment in people and infrastructure, positioning the Abati Military Barracks as a hub of unity, productivity, and social engagement.
