A socio-political advocacy group under the umbrella of Concerned Citizens of Kogi East, led by Comrade Mathew Ekele, Esq., has made a passionate appeal to popular philanthropist and businessman, Idris Hussein (widely known as Idris HK), the Chief Executive Officer of Crush Cafe, Gwarinpa Abuja, to throw his hat into the ring for the 2027 senatorial contest in Kogi East.
The call made public after a consultative meeting of the group in Lokoja, was hinged on what the members described as the “uncommon track record of philanthropy, entrepreneurial spirit, and genuine love for community development” demonstrated by Idris HK over the years.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Mathew Ekele highlighted several community-impacting projects initiated and sustained by the Abuja-based entrepreneur. He noted that Idris HK has singlehandedly provided motorized boreholes across different communities in all nine local government areas of Kogi East, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for rural dwellers who had suffered decades of neglect.
Beyond water projects, Ekele stressed that Idris HK has consistently supported small and medium-sized business owners with seed capital and mentorship opportunities. His intervention, according to the group, has helped to stabilize families, create jobs, and reduce poverty levels within the senatorial district.
The group further emphasized Idris HK’s humanitarian gestures towards the less privileged, including the sponsorship of educational initiatives, scholarships for indigent students, and medical outreach programs targeted at vulnerable communities.
The group believes that Idris HK represents a new generational voice capable of uniting the Igala people of Kogi East around a common purpose. “Our son has demonstrated capacity, compassion, and character. The Igalas should rally around him as we prepare for 2027. His entry into politics will bring a refreshing departure from the old order of empty promises,” Ekele declared.
He added that Idris HK’s success as the CEO of Crush Café, Gwarinpa has already positioned him as an example of youth innovation and enterprise, making him a credible choice to represent the senatorial district at the National Assembly.
The Concerned Citizens of Kogi East concluded by pleading with Idris HK to heed their call and officially declare his ambition ahead of the 2027 elections. According to them, the time has come for the senatorial district to be represented by a leader who is not only tested in business but also trusted in human and community development.
“Idris HK has proven that leadership is not about occupying political office but about service to humanity. We believe he will bring this same spirit to the Senate if given the mandate of the people,” Ekele remarked, urging political stakeholders and traditional leaders across the nine LGAs of Kogi East to support this move.
The group’s call has already begun to generate conversations across Igala communities at home and in the diaspora, with many describing Idris HK as a “bridge between the old and young generation” and a “credible alternative for 2027.”
