
The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria chapter of the Igala Students Association (ISA) has honoured Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, representing Kogi East Senatorial District, with the award of “Leader Per Excellence” for his outstanding contributions to youth development and public service.
The award was presented during a well-attended ceremony with the theme: “Celebrating the Impactful Legacy of Late Dr. Stephen Makoji Achema.”
The event attracted students, lecturers, community leaders, and stakeholders from across Kogi East, who gathered to celebrate the ideals of leadership, education, and service to humanity.
Senator Echocho, who was unavoidably absent present, was represented by Comr Akor Martins one of his aides.
Speaking on behalf of the Senator, Martins expressed gratitude to the organisers for recognising the Senator’s efforts and reaffirmed his principal’s commitment to the educational and socio-economic advancement of the Igala nation.
“This recognition is both humbling and inspiring. Education remains the foundation of progress, and I will continue to work towards policies and programmes that empower our youths and provide them with opportunities to succeed,” Senator Echocho said in his message.
He further advised students to prioritise their academic pursuits, describing education as their “primary mandate” while at the university.
He also congratulated the graduating students and urged them to approach their forthcoming National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year with dedication and a spirit of service to the nation.
The high ranking lawmaker reiterated his resolve to deliver on his mandate as Senator, assuring the people of Kogi East of continued representation focused on infrastructure development, education, and inclusive growth for the benefit of Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
The event was described as colourful and impactful, with speakers like Prof. AD Akpa and Alh. Abubakar Sadiq who highlighted the legacies of the late Dr. Achema and at the same time commending Senator Echocho for sustaining the values of service, leadership, and community development.
