Ayoung Igala boy from Kogi State identified simply as Sunday has allegedly murdered his own mother in what witnesses describe as a ritual-related act. The tragic event occurred in Kudenden, a community within Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, sending waves of disbelief and sorrow throughout the area.
According to eyewitnesses, Sunday, believed to be in his early twenties, reportedly took his mother’s life in cold blood while his father, a serving police officer, was away on duty in Abuja. The gruesome act was said to have taken place late in the evening, leaving residents terrified and confused over the motive behind such a horrific act.
One resident who spoke under anonymity described the incident as “a scene too dreadful to behold.” He recounted that the suspect had recently been acting strangely and isolating himself before the crime occurred. “We heard a loud noise from the compound, only to rush there and find out he had killed his mother. People were shouting and crying. It’s something we’ll never forget,” the witness said emotionally.
Community members allege that the killing might be connected to ritualistic intentions, as disturbing items were reportedly found at the scene, though police authorities have not yet confirmed this claim.
Security operatives swiftly arrived at the location and took the suspect into custody. The deceased’s body has since been deposited at a mortuary pending further investigation.
Residents of Kudenden have continued to express shock over the tragedy, calling on security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and bring justice to the victim.
