Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have stormed Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, where an alleged drug-fueled party was reportedly in progress in the early hours of Sunday.

According to a statement released by the NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operation was conducted around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, after intelligence reports revealed that the venue was hosting a drug party involving several high-profile individuals.

The raid, which was executed in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), led to the arrest of over 100 suspects, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike. All suspects were taken into custody for screening and investigation.

During the operation, NDLEA operatives reportedly recovered cartons of illicit substances, including Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas (nitrous oxide), both from the suspects and from the nightclub’s storage area.

Babafemi stated that the operation followed credible intelligence and weeks of surveillance, adding that some undercover agents had been embedded within the party since 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, before executing the coordinated raid.

He reaffirmed NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to sanitizing nightlife spaces and curbing the rising abuse of psychoactive substances among young Nigerians.

“This operation is part of NDLEA’s broader campaign to dismantle drug networks and ensure that nightclubs and recreational centers are not turned into drug havens,” Babafemi emphasized.

As of press time, the agency confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and suspects found culpable will face prosecution in accordance with Nigeria’s drug control laws.
