Public affairs advocate Michael Samuel Idoko has hailed the Nigerian Army for its prompt and courageous action in repelling bandits and kidnappers during an attempted attack in Kogi State earlier today. The incident, which initially created fear among residents, was quickly brought under control as soldiers stormed the area, engaging the criminals and forcing them to flee.
Idoko described the Army’s intervention as a shining example of dedication and professionalism, noting that their swift response prevented what could have been a tragic day for the affected community.
According to him, the bravery displayed by the troops reinforces the confidence many Nigerians have in the military’s commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining peace, especially in regions battling threats of banditry and kidnapping.
While commending the Army, Idoko expressed deep concern over the conspicuous absence of the Nigerian Police during the attack. He stated that such situations require strong collaboration among all security agencies, especially the police, whose presence is crucial for maintaining law and order.
He urged the Kogi State Police Command to reassess its operational strategies, increase community patrols, and ensure officers are adequately deployed to vulnerable areas where quick response is essential.
Idoko emphasized that effective security depends on both military efficiency and police visibility, stressing that residents must not be left to rely solely on one arm of the security structure.
In addition to addressing the security agencies, Idoko issued a strong advisory to residents across Kogi State. He called on the public to remain vigilant, avoid isolated routes, stay aware of their surroundings, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest security point.
He noted that while the military and police continue working to stem the tide of crime, community awareness and cooperation remain critical in preventing attacks and ensuring early detection of suspicious movements.
The area attacked earlier today has since been stabilized, and security operatives are said to be conducting follow-up assessments. Residents have expressed both relief and appreciation for the Army’s timely intervention, while also echoing Idoko’s call for improved police involvement.
