Hon. Muri Ajaka and the SDP cabal have fulfilled the requirements of the 2022 electoral laws, which categorically state the process for withdrawal or substitution of candidates under Section 31: “A candidate may withdraw his or her candidature by notice in writing signed by him and delivered personally by the candidate to the political party that nominated him for the election, and the political party shall convey such withdrawal to the Commission not later than 90 days before the election”. In turn, the political party has every right to replace the initial candidate with anyone of their choice before the final publication of the candidates names.

Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa 2023 Governorship Election; Last day for withdrawal by candidate(s) or replacement of withdrawn candidate(s) by political parties: May 26, 2023; Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Voters Education.

It’s evident that Hon. Muri has officially resigned from the APC on April 17, 2023, and the initial flag bearer of the SDP, Hon. Sheikh Ibrahim, has relinquished his mandate to Muri for the betterment of Kogi State and the unborn children.

The former member of the APC national working group is no doubt enjoying massive love across the board in Igala Kingdom as they bid to reclaim the governorship slot.
